winged migrations : 02/22/04
Mike and I watched Winged Migration today. I highly recommend you all renting it. It\rquote s a wonderfully beautiful film and they bring you very close to many species of birds as they migrate.
Rent the DVD if you can \endash there\rquote s a \lquote making of\rquote featurette that will blow your mind. They don\rquote t explain much in the movie itself, a little information about the birds, but mostly its music and watching them fly (It holds your attention. Honest).
In the making of film, though, you learn how they did it. They had people raise flocks of birds from eggs and imprint on the birds \endash all different species. They fed them, slept with them, swam with them, helped them to learn how to fly \endash all the time honking horns and making bird sounds. Using ultra light planes, they flew with them \endash actually migrated with them, like William Lishman.
It was unbelievable.
Ok, we are talking about birds right? Well, I'll ad this to my ever growing list of things I will never understand......sorry everyone, I'm the non cultured brother I guess :)
If you wanted to know about bird, you could have just talk to Seamus, he would have told you things you didn't really want to know
All Henry... All the time.
