winged migrations : 02/22/04

Mike and I watched Winged Migration today. I highly recommend you all renting it. It\rquote s a wonderfully beautiful film and they bring you very close to many species of birds as they migrate.

Rent the DVD if you can \endash there\rquote s a \lquote making of\rquote featurette that will blow your mind. They don\rquote t explain much in the movie itself, a little information about the birds, but mostly its music and watching them fly (It holds your attention. Honest).

In the making of film, though, you learn how they did it. They had people raise flocks of birds from eggs and imprint on the birds \endash all different species. They fed them, slept with them, swam with them, helped them to learn how to fly \endash all the time honking horns and making bird sounds. Using ultra light planes, they flew with them \endash actually migrated with them, like William Lishman.

It was unbelievable.

Well, I'll ad this to my ever growing list of things I will never understand

That's quite a long list already....

lil brother

Ok, we are talking about birds right? Well, I'll ad this to my ever growing list of things I will never understand......sorry everyone, I'm the non cultured brother I guess :)

mom

If you wanted to know about bird, you could have just talk to Seamus, he would have told you things you didn't really want to know

a day to play : 02/16/04

Mike and I went to the newly opened Conservatory of Flowers which, for some reason, I call the conservatorium. Not sure why. I took some pictures of flowers and butterflies, which I put into my photo album.

And we got kicked out because Mike got hungry - for a star fruit!

Before we made our way to the flowers (I'm telling the story in order of importance, not chronologically), we went biking and got a little exercise. Here I am trying a pull up.

Mike managed to hang upside-down, bat like.

Not to be outdone, I gave it a go. But, it didn't seem to go as well.

Finally, Mike thought he needed to burn off a few calories from our night out on Valentines Day (I'm tired just watching him).

Big Sis: In the family picture, looks like you're leaning towards the tall blond man, and Dennis towards the not-so-tall blond woman. Hmmm.

'down with the clown,' do i sense a future white rapper?

big sister

Go Mike-Go Mike-Go Mike
(Party music in the background)

Was there a squirrel around that was chasing Mike? I'm getting dizzy watching him

Hyperactive Asian

Must admit: the jumpin' picture makes me look like a hamster on speed. Thank you H. Guess thats why I needed a taste of the star fruit.

dad's 60th : 02/13/04

I put some pictures up Here.

Not sure why the picture of the whole family looks so bad, I'll fix it later.

Funny, you'd think that Ian would have a high tolerance for clowns considering that he is related to a bunch of clowns....and I'm including myself in that comment so nobody need to make any sort of ha-ha at my expense, I do that fine on my own!

Henry

This family needs to get a bigger camera

What, like of one those old 'pinhole' cameras?

mom

This family needs to get a bigger camera.

Mom

Ian is carring on the family tradition. Having a good sense of Humor of course not acting clownish

Henry

And your son is fighting clowns, why?

Kell

*Really* good question..I'm learning to not ask Ian such things! ;-)

Kel

Ok, so I'm driving to Mary's with Ian because she was graciosly watching him for me and what follows next the a conversation we had:

I: Hey Mom
Me: Yep?
I: Say there was a clown, right?
Me: Yep
I: ..and say I had to *fight* this clown..
Me: Yep
I: ...you know what I'd say before I fought him?
Me: Nope
I: "Down with the Clown" (while turning his hand from a "thumbs-up" position to a "thumbs-down".

it just made me laugh!

Henry

Down with the clowns.

uh-huh.

bigsister

Did anyone else notice that Dennis is next to Kel and I am next to Chuck?? What's up with that?

Go Ian-- DOWN WITH CLOWNS!!

*YOU GOTTA ASK KEL ABOUT THAT ONE*

Henry

You have to love Ian in the group picture!

Mom

It was a great time and yes he was very much suprised. Mike, Henry and I are a team. We stick together.

Young_Asian

In the family picture, H and I got abandoned out, but luckily mother Lewis is on our side. :)

[Mike is talking about the ballon string which cuts him, me, and mom out of the picture. kindof. - Ed]

isn't he cute? : 02/09/04

Coincidentally, that's the same look he gives me when I ask if there's any ice cream left.

Cross-breading peas......hmmm, must be a California thing :)

Henry

Just FYI, so you don't think he\rquote s crazy. Mike was referring to Gregor Mendel (1822 - 1884) who was a famous geneticist (the 'Dad' of genetics) who, also, was a monk and did a lot of work breeding various types of peas.

So, he's not crazy.

Well, maybe a little.

Mom

He's cute, but what's that stuff growing out of his head

Young_Asian

Such an angry picture of me. Totally gives the viewer the wrong idea. I am such a calm person, any more peaceful, I'd be in a temple reading bibles and cross-breeding peas. :)

extreme surprise! : 02/06/04

Hey, the guy on extreme makeovers last night?

I went to college with him. We were both Student Government geeks together. He slept in my room and was frightened by the lost drunk woman, who wandered in. (And you all thought my life was boring!)

I\rquote m not sure what it really has to do with anything, but I feel quite cool by limited association.

And he just got married wow!

Kudos to him, as the whole thing sounds a little painful. I think I\rquote d only be able to handle \endash not so extreme \endash makeovers.

You know, they smack ya and give you some Crest Whitestrips. It\rquote s a FOX show.

Hey Mike \endash not that you read this \endash but CONGRATULATIONS!

************Update: As usual, Greg has a much better, less smart aleky post.

Mike was the guy who hurt his shoudler when we were doing the team builder games on the lawn of Sheehy hall.

I don't remember the skit.

Laurel

Hey Henry - wasn't Mike in the RP I did with you one summer? I know he wasn't at UML when I was there, but I remember his name... (and parts of his face)

Henry

Well, go to the ABC site you can read all about it :). The summary was that his fiance and he both lost a lot of weight. So, his fiance wrote in to be a contestant, to get surgery to remove the remaining skin from the weight she lost - which isn't covered.

When they heard about her and her fiance, they asked Mike to come one too and threw them a wedding.

Mom

Just one comment. WHY?

So, how do we find this guy? The story said he was from Salem NH, and his wife from Ipswich. I looked them up at verizon and called all the M Choquettes in NH, but no luck.
