Mon-Tue:
No worries. We have boxes and stuff. We have a plan. Yea, lets pack something tonight, but no rush. Put a couple of pots into a box, clearly label it \lquote Kitchen Pots - non sticks\rquote . Call it a night.
Wed:
We should really pack a little more before Thursday, so we can be ahead of the game. What? Sure, we can go out for dinner. No problem. Get home at 9pm. Quickly throw some towels in a box, label it \lquote Bathroom\rquote .
Thurs:
Lets bring over a few boxes, then go back and pack more. We\rquote re a little behind where we should be. Pack .
Throw some bottles, the remotes, aspirin, and other small stuff into a box and label it \lquote Misc\rquote .
Friday:
Wow. Okay, no problem. We\rquote ll just move a couple of things today. Tomorrow we wake up EARLY, grab the U-haul, and move away. Can\rquote t decide if we should keep the plastic plates we use under the plants. Decide we might as well, we may need them.
Sat Morning:
Got U-haul. Mike thinks it is way too big. Stopped by a couple of yard sales to buy NEW STUFF. The new stuff included 2 wall-sized book cases, 2 large dressers, a large wardrobe (We\rquote ll get rid of the old one we have), a new bird cage, and some racquet ball racquets. Make it home around 10 am. Mike has to go to get friend who is helping us. We\rquote re about 10% packed and need to be out by midnight. Have changed labeling method to simply \lquote fragile\rquote or \lquote Not Fragile\rquote
Sat Afternoon:
Filled truck to bursting with just our \lquote big\rquote boxes. Have managed to get 40% packed by utilizing efficient packing method of dumping out whole drawers into laundry bags and using the barrel to hold dishes. Have stopped labeling items and just assume \lquote All\rquote is fragile. How the hell did we manage to stuff all of this junk into a 1 bedroom apartment. Getting rid of anything that looks like we haven\rquote t used in more than a year.
Early Sat Evening:
Truck unloaded at new place. Running out of room to put things. Have to get the truck back to U-haul. Still have about 30% of our stuff to pack AND have to clean the old apartment / fill in nail holes/ ect.
Sat Evening (Around 10pm):
Exhausted. About 80% done. Have changed our \lquote what to keep\rquote rule to anything we haven\rquote t used in the last 15 minutes. Decide we can get the rest of the stuff, and clean the apartment in the AM.
Sun Morning:
Can\rquote t. Move. Legs. Or. Stand. Up. New Apartment is wall to wall boxes and furniture. Only way to get to the bathroom is to pick up box, take step, turn around, put box behind you, turn back. Pick up new box. Repeat. We unpack a few things and make mental note that we need to set-up fish tank, as they are in 2 inches of water and really can\rquote t swim. Go out for bagels and go watch the parade.
Sun Early evening:
Muscles still ache. Have countered this problem, by only packing things into small \lquote lunch\rquote bags. Anything larger is thrown away. Have cleaned the bathroom and living room. Find out dishwasher is full of dishes (thankfully clean). Throw them all into a laundry bag, putting the wine glasses on top to keep them from breaking.
Sun Evening:
Cleaning now means spraying \lquote fantastic\rquote in the air and hoping that the dust evaporates. All of our stuff is out. Mike has school at 8 am.
Monday Morning:
Take Birds out of their \lquote travel socks\rquote . Begin slow process of unpacking. Make note to start getting rid of a few things\'85.
Thanks to Clark and Will and Steve, without whom, Mike and I would still be packing the uhaul\'85.

Y'all have no idea how often poor elderly Asian vendors have asked me where I found this strange white fellow. I always have to tell them its an American phenonmenon, all the white guys are like that, its a cultural thing. They don't seem to believe me.
