My dad died on August 4, 2004 after being sick for a long time. I was lucky to be able to talk and be with him before he passed, and when he passed. His death was much like his life – dignified and strong. My family misses him and his absence fills us with sadness, but we know that his suffering is over and he is in a better place.

Lewis and his partner Khoa Dinh of San Francisco, CA, Kelleigh A. Moulton and her husband Charles of Norwood and Shaun P. Lewis of Malden. Grandfather of Kimberly, Cameron, Colin, Catherine, Ian, Samantha, Colby, Megan and Edy. Brother of William J. Jr., Joseph B. and his wife MaryAnn, Veronica U. Giuffre and her husband Emmanuel, Frank G., Fred G. and his wife Cathy and Patricia Marchese and her husband Charles. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Retired Detective Malden Police Department. Lifelong member of the Irish American Club, Malden. Bus driver and Bingo worker at the Malden Diplomats/East Coast Jazz Drum and Bugle Corps. Late veteran US Air Force, Vietnam.

Funeral from the A.J. Breslin & Son Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., MALDEN at Medford line on Monday, Aug. 9th at 8 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 9 AM.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc., PO Box 2680, Canton, OH 44720 or to the National Kidney Foundation, 11 Vanderbilt Ave., Suite 105, Norwood, MA 02062. Published in the Boston Globe from 8/5/2004 - 8/6/2004.
