Life and Death part II
The Senate, yesterday, passed a ban on partial birth abortion. This will, of course, be tried in the courts. And, I think, will ultimately be reversed due to a lack of provisions for medical emergency exceptions.
That said, I think they should be severely restricting this practice. I'm pro-choice, but this goes beyond what I feel is a reasonable approach to abortion. There's no doubt, in my mind anyway, that past the beginning of the second trimester, that the baby is aware and fairly well developed. Excepting circumstances where bringing the baby to full term could be medically hazardous to the mother, there's no justification for this process.
I approach to this is very much the same as my approach to gun control. I'm supportive of people having guns, if they want to. That doesn't mean I'm supportive of anyone, anywhere, being able to buy any gun that want. There needs to be reasonable restrictions.
And I think banning this procedure is reasonable.
