Activist Judges

Bill Frist knows the phrase...

"We simply will not let activist judges redefine that definition of marriage," the Tennessee Republican said a gathering of anti-gay marriage activists. "

I keep waiting for the term 'Activist Elected Officials' to start being used. After all, the marriages in SF, NY, OR, and NM were all done by elected officials, not judicial fiat.

Of course, the courts will get involved eventually. So, maybe we should start using the phrase 'Eventual Activist Judges' or 'Judges who will soon be activists' or 'Poo-poo judicial heads'.

It all means the same.

judges enforce the law. the people are the ones who make them. not vice versa.

individual cases of "activist judges" are not the issue. the issue is that issues are being decided without our voice in the matter. where does that road lead? a scary slippery slope.

Umm, no. Judges interpret the law. And, these so called 'activist' judges have not 'created' a law. That's a lie. They have 'interpreted' current law, admittedly in a way some people don't like.

And the people do have a voice. In MA, for example, they're already working to try and pass an amendment. Which is voted on by the people.
