Missing the point

This is why we have too few nice guys in Congress. McCain was asked if he would consider a VP ship under Kerry. Instead of saying 'Me? A democrat! But. They're all Evil!" (which, apparently, he should have), he goes the polite route. Kerry is a fine man, of course I'd consider it, ect, ect.

If you read the whole text, it's obvious he wasn't seriously considering it. He even said as much.

McCain also said that he thought there was "no scenario" under which that would happen because "it's impossible to imagine the Democratic Party seeking a pro-life, free-trading, non-protectionist, deficit hawk. ...

The politeness, however, got twisted into a 'he might' stance, which of course he had to immediately deny.

I think John McCain is a 'knight' within the congress, and is what both sides should strive to become in nature, if not political stance. That said, he's still a Republican. And it would have been political suicide for him to even remotely consider switching.
