Would you like fries with that?

I like reading Alex's stuff over at Heretical Ideas, though I often find myself on the other side of the issues. It's nice, then, as a liberal, to be able to agree with him. And it only took some fast food to do it.

Listen, I believe that the courts are a reasonable, and neccesary, response when corporations have done irresponsible and unreasonable things. I felt it was reasonable that McDonalds was sued because they put beef juice in their buns/French Fries. Why? A reasonable person would not have expected that.

That said, reasonable people should recognize that eating at McDonalds is an unhealthy practice. And, if you eat there three or four times a week, you are most likely going to become over weight. Especially if you don't exercise, or balance off your non-Big Mac feasts with something healthy.

I don't think McDonalds, or anyone, should have to pay a lot of money to defend itself against lawsuits like this.
