Suing Coors
I'm not a big fan of so-called 'tort' reform, but cases like this, cause me to rethink things.
Jodie Pisco, of Reno, contends Coors has failed in its duty to protect the country's youth from drinking. Her son, Ryan, was killed in 2002 after he drank Coors at a party and drove his girlfriend's car into a light pole at 90 mph, the lawsuit says.
Let's recap. He drank while underage. He drove without a license. Hit hit a tree.
Now, I suppose you might argue some beer companies target youth, though I would argue Miller Light and Budwiser are more likely to fit this bill than Coors. That said, she also named the girlfriend (her car) and the mother of the girlfriend (gave the girlfriend the car) as well.
I'm sorry he died, and I'm sure she's angry - but where does his responsibility come into all of this?
