Yer out!

I think this whole 'Steroids' incident in baseball (and. I'm sure it occurs in other sports) is pretty horrible. I think baseball needs to police itself and I think it's shameful the message it sends to the kids which seems to be 'win at any costs'.

That said, I have to agree that the decision of the house to subpoena people to testify is asinine. The whole purpose if it, it seems to me, is to make it seem like they're doing something about it, so they can make ads when it comes election time.

Why?

  • There's no real question that people, in baseball, are using steroids. What are they hoping to find by testimony?
  • There's already a federal grand jury investigation working on the case.
  • Finally: There are far more important things our elected leaders need to be spending their time on.

If the economy was great, poverty wasn't increasing, education seemed to be going well, the wars were over, and the terrorist threats all dealt with, maybe I could see them getting involved, if only to justify the obscene amount of money we pay them.

I know that we can't ignore smaller issues simply because there is a lot going on, but this is too small an issue. If congress really wants to take on baseball, why not have hearings on why it costs $30 dollars a ticket for the cheap seats.
