Why was this even an issue?
Robin Williams saw something in his neighborhood he thought needed repair. He offered to donate the money to do it. Which, of course, only seemed to confuse people.
Supervisor Gerardo Sandoval questioned the donation and said he was concerned about the fairness of a wealthy neighborhood receiving money for beautification when less wealthy neighborhoods are also in need of improvements that residents are not necessarily able to afford to donate money for.
Except, this isn’t a case of diverting money from one place to another. It’s a case of the city getting something fixed for free.
Thankfully, they accepted the money.
