Modern World

I was the victim of Credit Card fraud this week. Someone got hold of my information, called Capital One, and said:

  1. The moved and needed to change their address and phone number
  2. The lost their cards and needed new ones sent out

  3. And they wanted to add someone else to the card

Capital One, I think negligently, allowed all this to happen. I found out this week, when I tried to access my account, and was told the address I was giving was wrong. Everyone I talked to at Capital one said ‘This shouldn’t have happened’.

Anyway, the thief made about 2K in cash withdrawals. Though, they provided a name and an address. So, I made a report to the police and was told they won’t look into it. Neither will Capitol One, beyond not holding me responsible (so they say. The ‘investigation’ will last 30 days).

I’m up to my neck in paperwork – my credit reports all list this other address now. I have no idea what information is being sent there now. But, neither the police nor Capital one care.

That's scary. Good luck with everything, I wonder why the olice won't do anythign about it. That seems strange to me.

It's scary how easy it is for people to do something like that. I dont' know if you've seen this but it's shows jus thow easy it is to get into a situation similar (though not exactly like) yours.
