Fine
I never do these, but since Dolphin asked, and I like his blog, I will
1. One book that changed your life.
There isnˇt one. I canˇt recall, ever, finishing a book and thinking ˉMy life has changedˇ. Thatˇs asking a lot from a book. Still, I think there are books which have influenced me:
I highly recommend the Tao of Pooh, The Giving Tree, and Frederick.
Why? Because, though simple, they talk about love and giving, and we need more of that.
(Youˇll notice the communist manifesto is not on it, contrary to what some may thing Iˇve never read it).
2. One book you have read more than once.
Iˇve read a lot of books more than once. Iˇm a rabid reader when I am able. When I was a kid, the first
ˉrealˇ book I read was Oliver Twist. I read it over and over. Now adays, I read a lot of so-called
ˉleftistˇ books, Like Stupid White Men, and Lies and the Lying Liars. I donˇt read as much literature as I
used to - which is too bad.
3. One book you would want on a desert island.
Amos Milligillicutties ˉHow to build a raft out of coconutsˇ.
Okay, I made that up. Iˇm not sure I can relate a book I need with a desert island. Sure, at first maybe
you enjoy the leisure time to read, but after reading the same book five times in a row, Iˇm gussing
I would be tempted to use it for other reasons (Fire, and bathroom needs come to mind).
Maybe Iˇm shallow, but Iˇm guessing a book isnˇt going to be much comfort in my solitude, unless it becomes my own personal ˉWilsonˇ.
4. One book that made you laugh.
Letters from a Nut. If you havenˇt read it, some guy writes bizarre letters to companies / Government Agencies / Sports Teams and then posts both the letter he sent, and the reply.
For instance, he wrote a wedding chapel and asked how much they would charge if he and his bride could
consummate their marriage in his office after the ceremony. When the chapel declined, he wrote back and
pointed out the did have an ˉOtherˇ category on their price list.
5. One book that made you cry.
I donˇt read books to depress me. I have the news for that. Most of my books fall into one of these
categories: Humor, Politics, Sci Fi, Horror, or Feel Good books (like Tao of Pooh).
The most depressing book I think Iˇve read is Prayer Warriors, about a gay man who grew up and came out in a fundamentalist religious family.
6. One book you wish you had written.
A brief history of time. Because, then I would presumably understand it all.
7. One book you wish had never been written.
My first thought was ˉThe Bibleˇ, but thatˇs neither true nor overly sophisticated. I think the
bible has cause a lot of pain and suffering in the world, which is too bad, because in many ways the book
itself is supposed to stand for the opposite.
So, in retrospect, itˇs not the bible which is the problem, rather how it was used.
8. One book you are currently reading.
I’m in Law School right now, so mostly I’m reading for class. However, I am also reading lots of baby books.
9. One book you have been meaning to read.
Nothing comes to mind. I want to read up on PhP code. And I have a couple of photography cooks I want to check out. Nothing of meaning, though.
10. Tag five people.
I don’t really tag people, though link to this if you want to play.
