I’ll show them

Bush today was irate at the leaking of part of an NIE which suggests the war ion Iraq has increased the terrorist threat. “Classification apparently doesn’t mean anything”, he said.

And, I guess to prove his point, he said he will : declassify more of the document.

Bush also said the U.S. government would declassify an intelligence document that analyzes the Iraq war's effect on terrorism.

"Somebody has taken it upon themselves to leak classified information for political purposes," Bush said. "I think it's a bad habit for our government to declassify every time there is a leak," Bush said.

So, let me ask you this. If this document needed to be classified in the first place, how does a partial leak justify further release of the document? Was it classified purely to keep the bad parts out of the public eye? Or, is this just another example of Bush declassifying things which help his cause, and not declassifying things which hurt it?

Or both?
