Atrios gets it right. The White House stance on Libby, since before he was even identified, is that they ‘Don’t comment on on-going legislation/trials/things that might make us look bad’.

Well, the investigation and trial are over. So, we can expect a discussion of the leak by the White House, right? Of course not. The line will be, ‘We don’t feel that the case was proven, but the jury did. We won’t comment further, because of the impending appeal’.
