This seems fair

A teacher overhears a black student calling someone/something ‘gay’. He asks how she would feel if he used the ‘N’ word, and went on to discuss the use of emotionally charged language.

He was suspended for 3 days for this. The mother of the girl admits that she doesn’t think he was trying to be hurtful, but that the girl was ‘too young’ for the discussion.

Apparently, not young enough to not use the word ‘gay’, though.
