A Late 'Wow'

I know I’m late to the party on this but wow. I mean, 'wow'!

There used to be a joke in College that you can pass any essay exam by studying one thing very well, like the Combustion Engine, and then answering all questions in any subject, by using that one thing: Q: Please explore the different factors which lead to World War II. A: The factors which led to World War II were much like the inner workings of a combustion engine…

This is what Palin’s interview style is. Fumble the question for a few seconds until a tentative link appears to a known talking point, then forget the question and hit those talking points.

Watch the video. The question was "Why isn't it better... to spend $700 billion helping middle-class families who are struggling with health care, housing, gas and groceries [rather than spend it on the bailout]?”

Palin answer diagram: I feel ill about it–>Healthcare reform is needed to shore up the economy (apparently, using the word "ill" brought us to healthcare) ->Oh, and Job Creation -> Shore up the economy ->tax cuts -> trade -> Job creation.

First, there was no actual explanation as to why the taxpayers should foot the bill for a wall street bailout – which was the question. Second, it wasn’t even a coherent statement on why the bailout is needed. It was just a ramble-thon on republican talking points.

Which, of course, means we should all now play the new ‘2 degrees of Sarah Palin’. Take any question, and by the second sentence of an answer, be on to the talking points:

Q: Is it hot enough for you?

A: Well, I’m from Alaska, where it is cold... and the cold war was a bad thing, though Reagan won the cold war by cutting taxes and job creation, and by being a maverick like John McCain, who is like Reagan in that he wants to win the cold war by cutting taxes and job creation. Healthcare Reform, too, because a lot of Russians are sick, because it’s cold. Like Alaska.
