Wearing My Tinfoil Hat
I’m not usually prone to tinfoil hat moments, but this struck me odd.
Not that conservative Republicans would balk at spending tax money to help wall street, or that they would oppose oversight, or other ‘liberal’ ideas attached to the plan. No, what struck me as odd was that it seemed the GOP was on board (it is, after all, the President’s plan) until after McCain announced his suspended campaign and said no to the debate.
Let’s follow the timeline:
- McCain ‘suspends’ campaign and says no debate until ‘agreement’ on bailout is reached.
- Agreement on Bailout is reached, and the world says ‘So, debate is on’. .
- House Republicans say ‘Wait a minute. We agreed to Nothing! In fact we’re against the whole idea of a bailout. .
Now, is there any chance the GOP has decided there was no agreement, because McCain doesn’t want a debate (Gasp!)? Lets see if the debate happens, and if not, what the final ‘agreement’ is, which will likely come out Saturday morning.
