Scene: Safehouse: Common Area

Present: Natalie

From somewhere upstairs comes a hydraulic's whine, a teeth-grinding ear-splitting wail hardly blunted by the walls. Natalie's just coming down the stairs, moving arthritically, accompanied by the smell of fresh paint. The living room is currently occupied by a handful of five-gallon drums of paint and a couple of rolls of carpeting.

Tu comes into the safehouse, dressed in his usual 'just in case' grunge clothing which he reserves for his trips to the construction zone. He wanders a little until he spots the Theurge, then heads over to her."Hey. The place is really shaping up."

Natalie pages: Psst. Galliard. ;)

Tu pages: I meant the Theurge NEXT to the Galliard. Honest.

Natalie glances up from negotiating the last of the steps, irritation in every halting step, though a pleased surprise overlays the worst of it like a chipped and fractured veneer. "Tu. Hey. What brings you here?" At the bottom of the steps she straightens - mostly, and with a grimace - and heads around the Ragabash toward the paint drums.

Tu shrugs slightly, following Natalie as she heads towards the paint. "Checking in mostly, I guess. I have a couple of things I wanted to let you know about." He smiles, though his demeanor is more reserved than usual, which is to say its very reserved. "Oh yeah?" She stops immediately, turning to face the other man, all ears. "Lay it on me."

Tu lets out a soft breath, then lets quietly starts the explanations. "Jana informed me that the Fianna Alpha has asked her to have our pack look into the veil breach you spoke about at the Moot. As I wasn't in on the conversation with the Alpha, I'm not sure of the demeanor, and I'm also not aware of all the politics which I'm sure is motivating some of this. I wanted to let you know it was going on." He pauses, then add quickly, "I thought your explanation was reasonable, so it's possible that things will change."

Natalie's chin goes up and a scowl pulls the corners of her mouth down, but her voice is even enough. "All right. I've got some more info than what I gave at Moot, like I said there. I'll lay it on you and let you ask me questions. What's the second thing?"

Tu shakes his head. "I'm not here to question you. I told Jana I wouldn't do it without telling you first. If you have more you want to tell me, rather than them, then that's fine. But it's not why I came." He quickly changes topics. "How much pull do you have with the Coggie tribe here?", is his next question.

Natalie's scowl deepens - perhaps from the topic whiplash, perhaps from something else. "Huh? Uh, not much, really. Why?"

Tu crosses his arms, taking a more relaxed stance. "I've been talking to Jeremy and he seems worried about how things are progressing with his kid. Mostly that the kid won't be raised by Walkers. I know that's mostly between him and his wife, but I also know Kin sometimes feel like they don't have much control over anything, even family. I was thinking we might be able to do something on his behalf. A compromise of some sort."

Natalie's flat-out irritation slips into something a bit more thoughtful. "...Wait a sec, run that past me again. Jeremy wants his kid to be raised as a Walker. Dakota wants it to be raised as a Gaian. Or Jeremy thinks Dakota wants it to be raised a Gaian. Is that right?"

Tu nods. "Well, I'm not sure. Jeremy seems to think that decisions are being made without him, and that he wants the kid to have /some/ Walker influence, but he doesn't think that will happen."

Long distance to Natalie: Tu sorries for the slow. Someone came by with a question. Stupid people.

From afar, Natalie has them flogged!

Natalie pages: And it's not a problem. I'm doing a couple of other things, so pose when you can. No biggie.

Natalie blinks several times in rapid succession. "Because he... can't talk to his wife? I don't know what you - what he - wants me to do. Wants the tribe to do. I mean, he married outside the tribe, just ran off to Vegas. Are we supposed to go beat down their door and threaten to... take away Dakota's library card? What does he want us to do, for crying out loud?"

Tu smiles. "That's why I came to you. Let me clear, he didn't ask me to do anything. He was just blowing off steam, I think. Still, he's kin, and I thought if we could do something it would be worth the effort. I certainly don't feel strongly enough about it to cause inter-tribe problems, but was trying to think of a more civilized approach. Maybe ask nicely on behalf of the tribe. I don't know any of them, so I wanted your advice."

"...Cripes." The mild expletive bursts out of her, leaving the Galliard silent for a few minutes as she studies the ground. "--Well, hell. -First- thing, he needs to talk to his wife and figure out what's going on. Second," her head cocks so she's studying Tu sidelong, "He ought to be talking to Marcus about this - or you ought to be, really. It's definitely something for the Elder to handle."

You say "Yea, well I have trouble getting the Elder's calendar", he says a bit annoyed. "You seem to know more about day to day stuff, anyway. I'll bring it up with him, though, if that's what should happen."

"First -Jeremy- needs to talk to his wife," Nat reiterates firmly. "If things don't work out, /then/ it becomes a tribal matter. Like you said, right now it's nothing more than venting. Nothing to really get worried about. Yet."

Tu doesn't seem thrilled with the answer, but doesn't choose to press on. "As for my dues, that's been moving somewhat slowly. I've been bounced from Signe to Tobin to someone named Jervis. I keep offering to do some solo work, but keep getting told to wait and that 'someone' will give me more specifics."

Natalie hrms and rubs the knuckles of her right hand along her jawline. "Well, huh. You might want to go back to Signe and tell her that, then - I'm assuming it's Tobin and Jervis who tell you no? Yeah, talk to Signe, since it's her Challenge, see what she says."

Tu nods. "Okay, will do. I don't mind waiting, I just didn't want you to think I was ignoring it." He makes a show of ticking three of his fingers as he says "Pack. Kin. Dues. I guess that all I have. Anything you need from me?"

Natalie says immediately, "Yeah. I'm curious about what's going on with your pack and looking into the 'breach. I've been spreading the info out to people as soon as I hear it; why don't you want to hear it?" Natalie amends, "Or who -should- I be telling?"

Tu shrugs slightly. "I didn't say I didn't want to hear it, I said that it wasn't my purpose for coming. All I know, at all, is that Megan told Jana she wanted to talk to her about it. I haven't been given anything else in way of direction, so I'm not actively investigating anything. If you want to tell me, I can bring it back to Jana."

Natalie ahs, her hand dropping down so the thumb can hook into her jeans pocket. "Actually... no offense, but I'll tell Cole next time he comes by - or even better, I'll come tell the whole pack some time. Not that I don't think you can't do the job, it's just... well. Cole's a Galliard, right? He's more used to remembering details."

Tu nods. "That's fine. I really don't want to be the link between you and them, anyway - it puts me in a bad position. This isn't exactly how I wanted my first pack to spend its time, but nothing works out the way we expect. I'll try to keep you informed as to what we're doing."

"Bad position?" Nat echoes curiously. "How so? You guys are looking for Magpie, aren't you? So isn't passing information what you ought to be doing?"

A dark chuckle escapes from the Ragabash. "Yes. Passing on information about a veil breach involving the acting elder of my tribe is exactly how I want to go about it, though." He sighs, then adds, "Look, I don't know how things work here. Events like this, however, often get used by tribe leadership to their own means, as I'm sure you know. Or maybe they don't here, but I'm worried about how it can impact you and therefore the tribe." He eyes the Galliard, then offers, "Which is why you guys tried to clean it up on your own before word got out."

Long distance to Natalie: Tu edits| ...ISN'T how I want to go about it...

Long distance to Natalie: Tu may get himself gutted after all. :)

Natalie's eyebrows go up again. "First of all," she drawls, "I wasn't involved in the Veil Breach. My pack's Alpha was. Second, I'm not Acting Elder, not since Marcus is back. I'm Beta, plain and simple. Third... well, third, I've already gotten smacked on the nose by Megan for Havoc trying to cover this up. So it can't really get any worse. I've been told to give any information I find to Megan, and I am. If Megan's got you guys working on it, then -you- guys get it too. I'm not gonna try and hold anything back, you got me? Megan wants, Megan gets."

We're not talking about the same thing", the Ragabash offers. "I'm not saying that I am going to keep things from anyone, I'm saying that this is not how I would prefer to be spending my time. You didn't commit the breach, but you were part of trying to clean it up, which means you're involved. Hell, you gave the briefing to the Sept. It was your face everyone saw when the breach was announced. And, while you are Beta of the tribe, lets face it, you're the face people associate with us. Like it or not." He sighs, "Hopefully, things will be taken care of quickly, and focus will move elsewhere. Don't get me wrong, I don't think you guys did anything wrong. Honestly. That doesn't mean, though, people aren't going to try to use it for their own gain."

Natalie ohs and backs down, figuratively if not literally. "I get where you're coming from now. Yeah, it pretty much sucks. There's a twenty little places where if -one thing- had been changed, Havoc wouldn't be where we are right now, which is at the bottom of the shit heap. But. Any help you want to give would be great. I mean, we're a Wolverine pack, for crying out loud. We don't do subtle. Period."

Tu relaxes a little bit, seemingly on the same page now. "Part of my worry is that I don't know the players well enough to know what to look out for.", he says simply. "Anyway, as I said, I'll try to keep you posted about where things are headed."

You paged Natalie with 'Just because Tu is paranoid... :)'.

Natalie says "That's great. The more information the better. And the faster this is taken care of, the better." :nods. "Anyway, I should probably be headed out. Do you need anything?" Tu nods. "Anyway, I should probably be headed out. Do you need anything?" Natalie graces him with a tight smile. "Besides another ten or so thousand, a crew of six skilled workers, and for my damn kidneys to heal? Nah, I'm good. Roach watch your steps, Tu."

Tu offers an enigmatic smile in return. "Him, I'm not worried about." He turns and takes a few step towards the door before turning back. "I'll be back later to help do some painting."

That said, he heads out of the safehouse. Natalie calls after him, "It's not the painting needs doing!" but lets the Ragabash leave.
